In this private dining project for a prestigious Chinese restaurant in Singapore, SAYUNIXA was commissioned to deliver a complete lighting solution that merges artistic refinement with spatial harmony. The client, celebrated for offering immersive, high-end dining experiences, sought lighting that could complement both the cultural depth of the cuisine and the spatial sophistication of its interiors.
We developed a series of custom fixtures tailored to the intimate nature of private dining—featuring sculptural ring luminaires and suspended acrylic forms that mimic the rhythm of flowing silk or mist. These were carefully suspended above dining tables to evoke a soft, enveloping glow. Each luminaire was CNC-machined and hand-assembled, using brushed stainless steel with frosted acrylic to ensure both visual transparency and structural integrity.
Spotlights were calibrated at precise beam angles to accentuate textures—casting subtle highlights on woodgrain surfaces, fabric panels, and decorative tableware. Adjustable color temperatures were employed to match the restaurant’s daylight-to-evening transitions, enabling lighting moods to shift from crisp, natural tones during lunch service to warm, intimate ambiances at dinner.
What sets this project apart is the poetic layering of illumination. Overhead light sculptures not only serve functional purposes, but also become artistic centerpieces—floating like clouds or petals, drawing the gaze upward without interrupting conversation. Paired with indirect lighting along architectural recesses, the space is wrapped in a soft glow that dissolves edges and amplifies a sense of privacy.
This approach transcends conventional lighting design. It is an exploration of how light can transform a space into a stage of cultural expression—subtly choreographing the rhythm of a meal, enhancing emotional resonance, and turning a moment of dining into a complete sensory ritual.
