This project is a private museum housed within a historic Chinese residence, commissioned by a distinguished overseas Chinese family. SAYUNIXA was entrusted not only with the provision of lighting products, but also with the artistic and technical direction of the lighting design for the entire space. Our mission was clear: to respect the cultural gravitas of the architecture while awakening a quiet dialogue between light, time, and memory.

The residence itself—anchored in centuries-old wooden craftsmanship and layered with personal history—offered not just a spatial challenge, but a poetic opportunity. Rather than decorating with light, we curated it. Our lighting was conceived as a brushstroke—subtle, deliberate, and emotionally evocative—softly revealing the texture of aging timber, stone, and inherited artifacts.

In the main corridor, warm-toned linear fixtures are recessed into the ceiling to echo the ancient beams above, sketching the spatial rhythm like calligraphy. Each exhibition zone is composed like a tableau: carefully angled spotlights draw attention to artifacts while respecting their material fragility, while concealed ambient lighting renders shadow into mood and space into meaning.

Throughout the museum, light becomes a medium of interpretation. The reading room glows like a lantern of thought; the family salon hums with gentle warmth; the stairwell flows like an illuminated scroll. Here, illumination transcends function—it becomes composition, narrative, and presence.

Our design does not merely preserve the integrity of a heritage space. It elevates it—transforming architectural silence into an artistic atmosphere. The space is no longer just a house of memory; it is a vessel of resonance, where personal heritage merges with contemporary aesthetics, and where light becomes both witness and storyteller.
